We are continuing in our series whose title is taken from the movie "The Right Stuff". We will be going through a very famous part of scripture in this series, known as the Beatitudes. This morning, with our fourth Beatitude and description of someone with the Right Stuff, we see that they are the ones who are filled when they hunger and thirst after God's goodness
We continue today in our series whose title comes from the 1980's movie called The Right Stuff. This movie was about the first astronauts in the US Space Program, known as the "Mercury Seven", including guys like John Glen, Alan Shepherd, and Gus Grissom. These adventurers were considered to have the "Right Stuff" and because of it, they experienced and did many great things.
With it we are looking at a famous portion of scripture known as the "Sermon on the Mount" (a collection of teachings that Jesus repeated over and over again, to those who were following Him), specifically looking at that section of the sermon known as the Beatitudes. We are taking each Beatitude one at a time, and highlighting the right stuff which marks the quality of life of the follower of Jesus. These are not qualities to be attained, but ones already possessed of those who put their trust in God. They're more the descriptions of what someone with the Right Stuff looks like because of the transforming life of Jesus. Admittedly, they are a bit upside down from the world's perspective, counter-intuitive, but at the same time, just as Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier, Jesus broke the barrier constructed by Satan to keep us from a free and right relationship with God.
This morning with our third Beatitude and description of someone with the Right Stuff we see that they have a spiritual joy; a spiritual bliss that no one or no-thing can take away because they are of meek.
