The Benefits of Knowing Christ - A Happy Life
Posted by VCC on April 29, 2014 at 10:14 AM

This morning we are starting a short series on the benefits of knowing Christ.  Having just come off a wonderful Easter Celebration we thought it appropriate to consider this new life we have in Jesus.  The Resurrection of Jesus is all about new life, not only a new life to come to us sometime in the future, but one we are offered right now.  Throughout this series we will be utilizing a very famous portion of scripture, and one we have tackled in the past in more detail known as “The Fruit of the Spirit”.  For this series we will take the logical grouping of the fruit and speak to the topics they best describe.  Today we’ll look at the first three fruit and see that we are being called to a happy life.

Easter - More Than It Appears
Posted by VCC on April 22, 2014 at 2:57 PM

Regrettably, due to some technical issues, we cannot post the audio portion of the sermon.

Today, we are celebrating the most important event, not just in the lives of those who are considered in some sense “religious”, but in all of human history! There is no event more sweeping in its scope, more significant in its meaning, or more personal in its understanding. Jesus is risen! He died and was buried, but did not remain that way. Why? Why was Jesus raised from the grave three days after He was laid there, and why is it important? For some, this day is just another day, to others it’s a time they look forward to be with family; yet to most this day is more than it appears.

40 Days of Faith - Humility That Brings Healing - Care For Your Own - Part 1
Posted by VCC on April 13, 2014 at 4:15 PM

Please note: This is the beginning of the sermon, before the reading of 1 Timothy.

This is the final Sunday of Lent, the 40 day time frame in preparation for the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. Lent is a time of refection, repentance and hope. During Lent, people fast and pray; humbling themselves before God as a sign of their devotion, but more than that, to truly renew their commitment to Jesus. We read Isaiah 58, which took us through our entire 40-day experience, recognizing that God is looking for humility that brings healing. In our sixth humility challenge, we see that healing comes to us and others as we care for our own.
