Joy To The World- Hope Offered
Posted by VCC on November 29, 2015 at 12:46 PM

This morning we are starting a short holiday series we’re calling 1a.joy to the world. At a time when in thinking about the world there doesn’t seem to be much joy going around these days: the recent events in Paris, the continual threat of this terrorist group ISIL, the reemergence of Russian political game playing as a Syrian ally now sabre rattling with Turkey who shot down one of Russia’s military planes; everyone is ramping up for some major conflict, refugees are flooding over borders; people feel threatened at home, arguments over what is right to do and what to do about it doesn’t make matters any easier. Add in some personal issues and as Jimi Hendrix wrote “there’s so much confusion, I can’t get no relief.” Things were not much different in the times before Jesus even with God’s people. And at that time God utilizing His *chosen voices the prophets, spoke of a different time, a time of 1b.hope at which joy would not be contingent on personal or world circumstances, but on something far more reliable

Running a Good Race-The Heart of a Champion
Posted by VCC on November 22, 2015 at 12:40 PM

We are finishing a short series and it concerns our 1a.running a good race. 1b.1 Corinthians 9:24 (NLT) Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! In our living out life on this planet at this time, especially for us living on the East Coast of the US, everything seems to be a race. That's why terms like "rat race", or "fast paced" are often connected with our modern lifestyles. We’ve already looked at the trails and temptations we face while running this race, and saw that as followers of Jesus “nothing can separate us” from God and His love for us, the midst of this race. Last week had to recognize we don’t run alone in this race and that we even have an opponent trying to keep us from finishing. *Today we’ll see that to run as Paul wants us, “to win”, it takes 1c.the heart of a champion.

Running a Good Race - "We Have An Opponent"
Posted by VCC on November 15, 2015 at 1:07 PM

We are in a short series and it concerns our 1a.running a good race. Ray introduced our series by talking about the trails and temptations we face while running this race of life we’re on, and last week I hit something very foundational to our running with effect - in identifying that as followers of Jesus “nothing can separate us” from God and His love for us. Because of God’s love He has given us one another in committed relationships as a church (the Vineyard) with one another. Today, though, I want us to recognize that in running this race of faith, that though there are pot *holes to avoid, and even those unwittingly used to stop us, 1c.there is only one enemy, and he will do anything to keep us from reaching the finish line.

Running a Good Race -
Posted by VCC on November 8, 2015 at 1:57 PM

I appreciate Ray sharing with us last week and kicking off a short series we want to *do, and it concerns our running a good race. 1a.1 Corinthians 9:24 (NLT) Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! In our living out life on this planet at this time, especially for us living on the East Coast of the US, everything seems to be a race. That's why terms like "rat race", or "fast paced" are often connected with our modern lifestyles. As humans we always seems to be in a "race" though it has nothing to do with our being called the "Human Race", though I think we see the word "race" and it fits our seeing life as a competition with one another. Though, as Ray spoke so wonderfully about, we face trails of many sorts in this fast past race of life, I want us to look at something quite foundational to our running this race. To truly run the race called out for us as believers in Jesus' salvation, *and what it means to do it in relationship with God, is to know that 1b.nothing can separate us from Him, His love for us, and even each other.

Trials & Temptations
Posted by VCC on November 1, 2015 at 12:56 PM

Becoming a Christian does not take us out of the world but roots us and grounds us deeper to it. Seems sometimes Christianity offers a great life free of trouble, while it does offer the best life possible, unfortunately it doesn't preclude trials in our lives.
