We are in the season known traditionally as Lent. The word Lent comes for a word which simply meant “lengthening of days” as in this time frame of the year. It was a time utilized by the early church for activities associated with the celebration of Easter, and utilizes the 40 Days of Jesus in the dessert as its model. At first these forty days were used to prepare those wanting to be Baptized and later for those who had been Baptized to confess, fast, pray, and turn away from nagging sins which hindered their sincere journey with Jesus. This year we are utilizing a study on the seven last statements Jesus made while on the Cross. The series is **called:.The Crucified Life which is taken from.Luke 9:23 (NIV) Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
