We are still in the midst of our summer series 'Mentored by Paul.' This year we are cobering the Pastoral Epistles: 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus as they lead churches in Island of Crete. After finishing first book of Timothy we have moved on to 2 Timothy 2.
Paul's second letter to his protege. It is belived that he was released from prison sometime after writing 1 Timothy and spent a few years in fruitful ministry only later to be arrested again. He is in prison under Emperor Nero and now knows that his end is verynear, he's pretty sure he is not getting out of this one. For this reason, this is one of Pail's most personal of letters.
We are in the midst of a Summer series we are calling. Mentored by Paul. Summer gives us an opportunity to go through large portions of the Bible chapter by chapter and dive into their context a bit more. People coming in and out because of being on vacation can follow along easily since we take them in sequence. This year we are doing what is commonly *known as the Pastoral Epistles: 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus, and we are in.1Timothy 6. Paul is instructing his protégés, his mentees, Timothy and Titus as they try to lead the churches in the cities of Ephesus and on the Island of Crete. Timothy is in Ephesus, and Paul is helping Tim deal with some cultural issues of the day as well as with people teaching falsehood. So, for us we can apply the principles being taught by Paul as we look at living as the Church of Jesus in our day and what is the truth of the Gospel of God’s Kingdom and taught by Jesus.
Today we continue our series, Mentored by Paul. Today we focus on 1 Timothy 5. If you need to catch up you can keep up on the podcast!
